Summer Bunting – How To Make Personalised Bunting Tutorial

Hi everyone, I just thought I would share with you a recent project that I made for Wow Embossing Powder… it was for their summer theme! You can check out the full tutorial here

I had been invited to afternoon tea to celebrate my friends 30th birthday so I decided to create a summer themed card for her that would fit with our afternoon of tea, sandwiches and cake and what better way than to say Happy Birthday than with bunting!

I also created a second set and attached to pink straws so these could be used on her birthday cake… I will say the the restaurant put the bunting a little too near the candles for my liking so if you do attempt this, make sure the candles are set away from the bunting to prevent any fire hazards!

The final thing to say is Happy Birthday Emily!

I hope that you like this project.

Happy Crafting 😀

Christmas card with hanging snowflakes

Hi everyone,

I wanted to show you how to create this wonderful Christmas card that looks stunning.

Christmas_Snowflake_Card_LRYou can see the beautiful effect when the card is opened… The stamp has been stamped onto clear acetate and heat embossed with an opaque white embossing powder and so the light shines through and it looks almost like an expensive laser cut design.

This card uses the fabulous Wow! ‘Blizzard’ clear stamp that’s a wonderful intricate stamp that fits perfectly into the Christmas theme.

MBM_WowStamps_Blizzard_LR-1 MBM_CraftProducts_WowEP_BrightWhite_LR-1I started by stamping the stamp onto heat resistant acetate and heat embossing with Bright White Embossing Powder. I then cut a rectangle from my card blank (just slightly smaller than the stamped area) and mounted the acetate to the inside of the card.

Next, I stamped the Christmas Tree from the Wow! ‘Deck The Halls’ stamp set and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. This was onto a semi-translucent pearlised paper. I cut around  the embossed area and added a gem star and silver bow embellishment and mounted this with foam pads onto the card.

To complete the card, I cut two thin strips of acetate and attached them to the inside top of the card but positioned them so they hang over the front and added some snowflakes and silver diamante gems.

And there’s the final card… an easy to make but beautiful Christmas Card. 😀

Here are two other cards made using the same stamp… As you can see the stamp is also perfect for A6 size cards. The first card uses Bright White Embossing Powder on a Lilac Pearlescent Card and the second card uses Blueberry Embossing Powder on White Card.

Anniversary Card

Hello to all you lovely blog readers, it’s Sarah here and I have a foil inspired card to share with you today.

I have been playing with the fabulous range of foils from Wow and have created a card to send to my boyfriend for our anniversary (I hope he doesn’t read this post before I send it!) :O

I used a laser printer to print out a damask pattern onto a copper coloured card and then cut a piece of Gold Foil to cover the printed area. I then sandwiched this between two sheets of standard white copier paper and put this through my laminator. The foil adheres to the toner ink and this created a perfect gold damask pattern. Also, the great thing about a damask background pattern is that the left over foil can be used with a full printed toner sheet (I used a scrap piece I had lying around) and this creates a second background pattern design to use on a different project.

To create the embellishments on the card, I added some ribbon, printed out a heart onto white shimmery card and foiled this using the Red foil and then to finish added a tag with sentiment that was heat embossed in apple red.

Father’s Day Card with stencil embossing

Hiya all, it’s Sarah here and I’ve created a Father’s Day card using the Wow Earthtone powders that I wanted to share with you all.

Here are brief instructions on how to make (I used a blank pre-folded Square Card with a linen effect but and blank white card would work well with these colours):

Using clear ink, stamp the squares pattern from the Funky Border Stamp Set and sprinkle over Wow Blueberry Embossing Powder and set using a heat gun.

Stick 5mm double sided tape either side of the stamped squares and trim to size. Sprinkle with Wow Mint Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat gun.

Using clear ink, stamp the ‘Happy Father’s Day’ message from the Everyday Sentiments Stamp Set and sprinkle over Wow Blueberry Embossing Powder and set using a heat gun.

I printed out ‘DAD’ in a bold font and cut around the letters, using a scalpel to cut out the middle parts of each letter. Then I stuck these letters to a square piece of card 6cm x 6cm using a temporary adhesive. This then became a stencil effect so I could use my ink pad to ink over the whole area and heat emboss using Wow Pepper Embossing Powder then carefully (using a scalpel), remove the stencil letters to reveal the card underneath. I used a pearl effect card so that the matt embossing powder really makes the letters stand out.

To add a little more sparkle, I added some fabulous spearmint green colour mix star sequins using glue dots. (They are from Josy Rose Sequin Collection).

If you have the patience for cutting out, here’s an option with an alternate sentiment:

If you right click on the below images you should be able to save them to your computer so that you can print them out to cut around the letters. If you print them onto thin card, the stencils are usually sturdy enough to use a few times.

Here’s a list of the Wow products that I used:

Pop over to the Wow Embossing Powder website for other fabulous colours from the Earthtone range… Honey is a lovely rich yellow which reminds me of all this fabulous weather that we have at the moment. I might have to use that colour in a project that I create today… Happy Embossing!

Pop Up Spring Floral Birthday Card…

Hello everyone…

I just thought I would share this incredible tutorial that I found on the Martha Stewart site on how to create a fabulous three dimensional floral pop-up… I used a mixture of shimmery papers and looks so lovely… I’ll definitely be making more of these! 😀

I carried the floral theme onto the outside of the card too…

It was really easy to make. For the pop up flowers, I followed a tutorial from the Martha Stewart website:

You really should try it! 😀

Pssst… Did you know it’s Mothers Day on Sunday?!

Hello to you all…

Can you believe it’s almost Mothers Day already… I thought I had best create a lovely card for my mum to show her how wonderful I think she is.

This super cute frame on the ‘simply amazing stamp set’ from Wow Embossing Powder gave me the idea of creating a showcase photo card of special times that I have shared with my mum growing up. I printed out some miniature black and white photo’s of my mum and I together. I then stamped and heat embossed 6 frames using a mixture of Brass and Platinum Embossing Powder and carefully cut around the frames using a scalpel and attached each photo to the back of a frame using 1mm foam pads to give a little bit of depth. The frames mounted onto silver shimmer card gave the perfect finish.

I’m hoping that my mum will like it. 😀

Lovebirds for Valentine’s Day

Hi there! I’ve just created a male themed card for Valentine’s Day.

My thoughts were drawn to something fairly plain and simple with not too many ribbons or glittery things. I then decided on this lovely lovebird stamp and decided to create something with a sense of movement to it! Here’s how to make it…

Using Wow Embossing Stampset1 – Is It A Bird. Stamp the lovebird onto white card using a clear ink pad and sprinkle Primary Ebony Wow Embossing Powder over the area that you have stamped. Tap off the excess powder then heat the card from below using a heat gun. You can see when the embossing powder has set as it turns glossy.

A neat trick for creating a mirror image of a stamp is to use a lightbox (or a window) to trace the positive stamp image (trace the design on the reverse to get the mirrored image). I traced the image using a Wow Embossing Pen and then quickly heat embossed the design (with Primary Ebony Wow Embossing Powder) to get the mirror image of the stamp.

TIP: If you are using a different stamp range that doesn’t come with an acetate sheet with the design printed onto it, heat emboss the stamped image that you want a mirror image of, and flip it over on the light box and trace the reverse.

Using the Wow Embossing Pen, colour in the heart (within the lovebird stamp) and then heat emboss with Apple Red Wow Embossing Powder.

Use a fine pencil to lightly draw a line around the two stamped birds. This pencil line provides a guide to follow as you use scissors to cut around the heat embossed lovebirds.

Punch a medium sized heart from the white card and triple heat emboss with Apple Red Wow Embossing Powder

TIP: To create a glossy heart embellishment, I pressed the heart shape onto a clear ink pad and covered with the embossing powder. The trick to layering the embossing powder and building up multiple coats is to work quickly. Once you have heated the first layer, quickly sprinkle over more powder and heat again and repeat this process a couple of times to get a thick glossy heart embellishment. Use long handled tweezers or flat nose pliers to grip the heart.

Stamp a couple of the little heart stamps (from the same stamp set –  Wow Embossing Stampset1 – Is It A Bird) and heat emboss using Apple Red Wow Embossing Powder. Cut around them or use a small circle punch to easily punch them out.

Cut a thin strip of acetate about 2.5mm wide and cut this into two strips about 120mm long.

Take a square card 144mm x 144mm and using glue dots, attach the lovebirds and small hearts to the acetate strands and then attach these to the inside of the card. To make it look neater, I used small square pieces of the same background card to hide the area where the acetate strands are attached to the inside of the card.

Attach the triple embossed heart embellishment somewhere in the middle of the card (near to where the lovebirds sit using thick mini foam pads. I decided on ‘je t’aime’ for the sentiment as I felt it suited the illustration style of the lovebirds. I hand wrote the sentiment on the front towards the bottom of the card. (If your don’t feel that your freehand skills are up to this, you can find a template here that you can trace) Enjoy! 😀
